Regis Welcomes Director Of Student Discipleship

As we celebrate Catholic Schools Week, Regis Catholic Schools is excited to introduce Ellie Shaw as its first Director of Student Discipleship on the Regis Middle School and Regis High School campus.

As the Director of Student Discipleship, Ms. Shaw will not only coordinate our annual class retreats and other faith opportunities for students in grades 6-12, but she will also direct two new Regis initiatives: the Kairos retreat and the Ut Fidem discipleship ministry.

“Kairos is a three-night, four-day retreat that has consistently, in its six-decade-long history, been a powerful turning point in the faith lives of many young people. This retreat will be offered electively for our Regis juniors and seniors,” said Regis Chaplain Fr. Levi Schmitt. “Through the Ut Fidem discipleship ministry, students, by meeting in small groups of their peers under the direction of an adult mentor, experience a genuine Christian community that energizes and enriches their relationship with Jesus Christ.”

Ms. Shaw says filling a position like this has always been a deep desire of hers.

“I have been a missionary with NET Ministries and Damascus Catholic Youth Summer Camp, as well as a Faith Formation intern at a parish, where I led Bible studies, small groups, and countless retreats,” she said. “Serving God in these ways has grown the childlike spirit within me. All of these opportunities and gifts, but mostly God’s grace, equip me for the adventure it will be to work at Regis.”

Ms. Shaw says she is excited to walk alongside and mentor our middle and high school students as she acts as Christ’s vessel of grace.

Ms. Shaw’s first day on the Regis campus was January 30 and we encourage our students and families to help make her feel welcome. Please keep Ms. Shaw, these new endeavors, and the Regis school community in your daily prayers.
