Teacher Spotlight

Regis Teacher of the Year Award!

The Regis Student Council presented Mr. Eric Nelson with the Teacher of the Year Award! He consistently brings energy and excitement to the classroom.  He uses a variety of teaching techniques, including the normal "note-taking," as well as projects, assimilations, and the notorious review game, which never ceases to rile up a classroom and can create a devastating defeat or a glorious victory. Congratulations Mr. Nelson and thank you for all you do!

EUREKA!

Eureka! Math PlayRegis Catholic School’s students in grades 5-12 will be attending the highly acclaimed performance of Eureka! on Monday, April 23rd at 10:00 am in the Regis High School Auditorium.

The math themes in Eureka align with the Regis Catholic School’s Teaching and Learning Plan.  It is endorsed by Linda Nortier, the Facilitator of the Math Curriculum, under the RCS T & L plan.

The Boston Globe says, “Eureka helps to anchor math concepts and creates concrete visual links between the ideas and things we encounter in the real world and our everyday lives that can make math exciting.”

Eureka presents math theorems and formulas in an engaging way and provides real life understanding of topics such as; order of operations, prime numbers, Pascal’s Triangle, The Fibonacci Sequence, The Pythagorean Theorem, and The Golden Ratio.

The play will help demonstrate to students, teachers, and to any parents who would like to attend, how with an understanding of math you can then use these basic concepts to understand math which is found in science, social studies, art, music, poetry, nature and most everywhere in the real world.

It incorporates humor, history, and sparks student’s and teacher’s interest in math discussions and encourages life-long learning to explore the mysteries in our everyday lives.

For more information about the play, you can go to Chamber Theater's website about the play.
