Music at St. Mary's and St. James-Mrs. Mecikalski

Welcome back!  

There is a quote that I like to remember, "Some people dream of meeting their favorite musicians; I teach mine."  I love seeing the growth that the students make throughout the school year!  I am looking forward to another great year!  Students are starting off the year with various activities in the music room:  

Kindergarten and first grade are singing and playing games to practice steady beat.  

Second grade classes are reviewing some singing games and working on singing solfege.

Third grade is concentrating on orchestra families of instruments and rhythm games.  

Fourth grade is working on learning note names of the treble clef before starting recorder karate.

Fifth grade is working on reading TAB on the ukulele and playing mystery songs.  We will begin learning to play chords.
