November through December

November is a month where we get between art projects in many of my classrooms.
Our Christmas time art needs to start well before December in order to get it finished it time.
Thanksgiving break also takes up some of our art days so our time together is broken up leading up to the holidays.

The next two months my artists have been working on the following projects:
K: Color Mixing - Christmas Project
1: Snowscapes
2: Symmetry Owls - Paste Paper - Wise King's Journey
3: Color Value Painting and Collage
4: Wisconsin State Symbol Art - Gothic Architecture
5: Faux Embossed Foil Art - Value Scale Painting - Nativity Scene

Just a few things to note about every school year and what my artists need to be successful can be found below:

1. Every student in 1st through 5th grade needs a sketchbook. A 9x12 in spiral sketchbook is preferred. Other styles are also fine, but please try to keep it around a similar size.
2. Art shirts are important for helping to contain messes. You can use an oversize old shirt. Other art shirt options are also fine, as students have used aprons, smocks, and backwards button-ups in the past.
3. All of the artists at Immaculate Conception Elementary School, St. James Elementary School, and St. Mary's Elementary School have an online artwork portfolio through the website artsonia.com. Artsonia contains many wonderful art resources in addition to hosting art classroom creations from schools all over the world. They have project videos and lesson plans made by art teachers, cool art ideas to do at home, and a wonderful fundraising gift shop that donates 20% from each item purchased back to the students' school art room. Participation in this site is not required but it is a great way to view, share, and comment on student artwork as they create it and keep track of their developing artistic journey.
I especially enjoy whenever families let me know how they use Artsonia to share projects with students extended family members. It is a big hit with grandparents!

If you need to contact me please email me using either email address below.

I travel between Immaculate Conception Elementary School, St. James Elementary School, and St. Mary's Elementary School so email is the easiest way to reach me.

Thank you to all who donate used or new items to the art room at your child's school! I appreciate all of you. Feel free to email me if you have a question about donating items for art projects.

I would love to accept donations of polar fleece with an area of at least 8inx8in as well as chunky/heavy weight yarn.
