FAQs:
What is the CommonApp?
The Common App is a free college application system that makes applying for college easier. There are also tons of resources on the Common App regarding college information, application processes, financial aid, and more.
How does the Common App work?
First, you’ll create an account. Then add prospective colleges to your list. There are two parts to filling out the application: a set of common questions and specific questions for each college. You only have to fill out the common questions once, and they will be transferred to each college you add to your application list. You can also invite recommenders to write their letters of recommendation in the Common App. Once all sections of the application are complete, you can submit your college applications right through the app.
What materials do I need to fill out the Common App?
-Regis High School Profile
-A list of courses you’ve taken (this can be found in Skyward)
-Your test scores and dates for standardized exams like the ACT and SAT
-Citizenship information: social security number (if you are filling out a FAFSA as well), a copy of your green card for permanent residents, or a US visa type, number, and date issued for non-U.S. citizens (see the guide for international students as well)
-State of residence information, if applicable for in-state tuition qualification
-Parent information (job, education level, degree received if applicable)
-Any academic honors received
-A list of activities you’ve been involved in. This can be sports, clubs, volunteer hours, hobbies, and jobs.
