U.S. History Since 1945

We start the 60's this week.  We will discuss the Nixon-Kennedy Debates, as well as talk about the Civil Rights movement.  Later we will listen to some 60's music, and look at movies and print ads from the peroid

U.S History-

Test on Tuesday.  Later in the week we will get into our Civil War simulation 

American Government-

We continue to talk abou the roles of the President and also learn about requirements for being President.  If time permits I might show them some highlight from the V.P. debat this week.

Week of 8/10

U.S. History since 1945-

We will discuss some more of the JFK Presidency then turn our attention to the Civil Rights Movement during the 1960's.  By the end of the week we might watch the movie "Selma" and discuss some strong and weak points of the movie.

U.S. History-

We will continue to work through the Civil War including a look at the Emancipation Proclaimation

American Government-

We will begin our look at the Supreme Court, and perhaps show some highlights from the Presidential race.

Week of 10/17

U.S.History Since1945-

Test wil be on Wed. and we will be watching and discussing the movie Selma this week

U.S. History

Going over Gettysburg and the Gettysburg address

American Gov.

Going in depth in the 4th Amendment. We will be having a mock trial later in the week.

Week of 10/24

U.S. History Since 1945

Students will be able to recite some basic facts of the Assassination of Martin Luther King.

Students will understand the consequences of this assassination

Students will understand some of the difficulties of fighting in Vietnam

Students will understand some of the strategies that Johnson had fighting the war.

U.S. History.

We will cover the end of the Civil War and the start of Reconstruction

We will have a test on Thursday on the Civil War

Government

This week students will take the U.S. citizenship test which is required for graduation.

We are also having a mock Supreme Court case regarding the 4th amendment.

History since 1945

We will finish up watergate, and the Nixon Adminstration, move onto Ford and maybe Carter and Reagon by the end of the week.

U.S. History

We are going to review the novel "The Red Badge of Courage", then watch the movie.  We will then compare and contrast the two.

Government-

Of Course we will talk about the Presidential Election, Talk about the 6th amendment and maybe the 7th amendment by the end of the week.

Week of 11/26

History Since 1945-  This week students will learn about the 1980's and the Reagan Administration.  They will also take a test on Nixon through Reagan

U.S. History-

Students will learn about the treatment of Native Americans after the Civil War.  This will include Sand Creek, Wounded Knee and the Dawes Act

Government-

Students will work on their project, take a test on the bill of rights, and we will move on later in the week to political parties.

Week of 12/5

History Since 1945-  Students will continue to learn and discuss the 1980's.  A special emphasis on the conflict with Gernada and the 1988 Election between Bush and Dukakis

U.S. History-

Students will learn about industrialization.  Both good things and bad things will be discussed.

Government-  Students will present their projects on the Bill of Rights early in the week.  Then we will switch gears and discuss local government as well as buracracy and government structure.

Week of 12/12

History Since 1945-  Students will be able to explain some significant happenings in the election of 1992, as well as understand some major events during the Clinton Administration

U.S. History-

We will continue to progress in American History and this week will focus on the Guilded Age

Government-  Students will go over Political parties and work on their projects as well as get ready for a debate between Democratic and Republican parties.

Week of 1/9

History Since 1945-

This week  the class will go over the 2004-2012 elections.  We will also go over the presidency of Brack Obama as well as start going over what will be on the comprehensive final

U.S. History-

This week the class will go over the Presidency of the Teddy Roosevelt administration, as well as how Taft handles the Presidency.  By the end of the week I plan to have students ready to discuss and understand World War I and the U.S. role in that war.

Government-

Students will discuss more foreign policy in class. By the end of the week we will start to prepare them for the cumlative final that is coming up next week.

1/16

All classes this week will be getting ready for finals.  We will be going over a review sheet and playing the review game later in the week to get ready.

2/6

U.S. History-  Students will learn more about the 1920's and their prosperity, and then we will begin discussing the Great Depression by the end of the week.

Government-  This week we will begin by examining Article one of the Constitution and the Legislative Branch.  

2/27

U.S. History-  This week we will continue to discuss WWII in Europe and in America.

Government-  We will continue to discuss the Executive Branch and also students will learn what goes into a presidential campaign.  We will also review the electoral college.

3/13

US History-  This week we hope to finish up WWII and then have a test at the end of the week.

Government-  Classes will talk about the 4th Amendment this week and then have a test on Thursday.  

3/27

U.S. History-  Students this week will begin to study the cold war and the presidency of Harry Truman.

Government-  Students this week will role play as judges and lawyers and have a mock trial case concerning the 4th Amendment.  

4/10

U.S History-  Students will be going over the Eisenhower administration and the early civil rights movement of the 1950's

Government-  Students this week will be examining the 7th and 8th Amendments in the Bill of Rights

4/17

U.S. History-  Students will learn about he Kennedy administration and we plan on taking a test on Friday

Government-  Students should complete their study on the Bill of Rights and then take a test on Friday on the Bill of Rights.

4/24

U.S. History-  Students will be studying more events in the 1960's including the Kennedy Assassination and the Civil Rights March in Selma

Government-  Student will continue to look at the Bill of Rights by doing a project that allows them to dig deeper into a specific amendment.
