Happy Spring! In the month of May, our guidance lessons are focusing on Career Awareness. In kindergarten the students will learn about careers and the tools needed for each career. First graders will play a career game and will also create a career book that will include a career for every letter of the alphabet. Second graders will discuss gender stereotypes and listen to the book LMNO Peas. Third graders will think about how their hobbies relate to careers and then create ice cream cones that highlight their skills and careers.  Fourth graders will learn about careers and the education/training needed for careers.  The fifth graders will learn more about themselves; including their interests and career possibilities. Grades 3, 4 and 5 will also be logging into https://xello.world/en/elementary/, a career exploration website. Check it out! Your child can login at home and show you all of the fun activities that they have been doing.
Christi Paul, the Regis Middle/High School Counselor will also be visiting our 5th grade students this month to answer questions and complete middle school transition activities. She met with St. Mary’s students on Friday, May 6th and will meet with St. James students on Tuesday, May 24th. Be sure to ask your child about the Regis folder that will be given to them because it will have important transition information inside.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions and concerns by calling St. Mary’s or St. James or e-mail me at deslinger@regiscatholicschools.com
