Hosting an exchange student is an amazing experience for you and for the exchange student. Regis Catholic High School would like to welcome another Global Outreach exchange student for the 2021-22 academic year. Global Outreach is a Catholic exchange program with the mission of building a civilization of love by forming young dynamic Catholic servant leaders for the 21st century. Students come from six countries in east-central Europe (Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, and Ukraine) and study in Catholic high schools in Wisconsin and eastern Nebraska for one year. Hosting opportunities are available to both families and individual host parents. Placement of students becomes a reality when a household opens the door to their heart and home and says “yes” to hosting a student. Currently, 2 students are waiting for their “Good News! We have a host family for you” letter. One is a girl from Ukraine and the other is a girl from Slovakia. Please contact Barbara Tota-Boryczka, Executive Director, email@example.com (920) 540-3085 or Fr. Larry Seidl, Spiritual Director, firstname.lastname@example.org (920) 412-0320 for further information.
Here is more information on these two fine young students who need a host family to be in the Global Outreach program:
Vika (Viktoriia) is 17 years old and lives in Lviv, the largest city in western Ukraine. Vika lives with her parents and her brother, whom she calls her soulmate. She is involved with the Ukrainian scouting program and is an animator (person who organizes entertainment for younger children). She loves children and enjoys helping and mentoring them. She is willing to try new experiences to see whether they are a good fit for her (e.g., playing the piano and dancing). Because of her strong concern for the environment, her dream job is to be an ecologist. Vika also has a strong love of animals.
Sofia is 17 years old and lives in a small village near Košice, the second largest city in Slovakia. She is an only child and thinks of her mother as her best friend. Her favorite hobby is cooking and baking, and she looks forward to acquainting her host family with the food of her country. Friends and family say that the most beautiful thing about her is her kind-heartedness and cheerful, optimistic nature. She enjoys watching sports but does not have a strong talent to participate in them. She loves discussing ideas and listening to others, whether they are talking about their amusing stories or feelings.
Learn a little more about the experience of a Global Outreach student by going on the parish website and listening to a witness talk given by one of the Global Outreach alumni. Then, ask yourself whether God is calling you to help Vika or Sofia’s dream come true. Your decision to host will change their lives—and yours forever.
