Work Permits

Work permits are available in the High School office.

To obtain a work permit, bring all five items to the school office.

  1. Proof of age - birth certificate, a verified baptismal certificate, or a driver’s license or photo ID card issued by the Department of Transportation.
  2. Social security card
  3. Hiring statement from the employer, explaining job duties, hours of work
  4. Written parents consent
  5. $10.00 - the $10.00 fee for the permit must be reimbursed to the minor by the employer at the end of the first pay period.

Copies of the permit go to the employer and the minor, in addition to the school district where the minor is enrolled.

The new state budget took effect on July 1, 2009.  One of the changes in the budget is an increase in the fee for child labor and street trades work permits and certificates of age from $5.00 to $10.00.
Effective immediately you are to begin charging $10.00 for each permit issued.

The $10.00 fee will be distributed in the following manner:

Amount kept by Permit Office:   $2.50

Amount paid to the Equal Rights Division:       $7.50

If you have any questions about this change please either call or email me your concerns.

Sincerely,
