The Herb Kohl Foundation and the Wisconsin Council for Religious and Independent Schools (WCRIS) have selected Erika Galewski from St. Mary's Elementary as the Private School Teacher of the Year!
We surprised Mrs. Galewski during a school assembly on Teacher Appreciation Day. She is a third grade teacher at St. Mary's Elementary in Altoona and was one of the 14 Kohl’s Teacher Fellowship Winners who will receive $6,000 for themselves and another $6,000 for their school.
A WCRIS statewide panel then selected Galewski as the 2018 Teacher of the Year.
“The Teacher of the Year award is a way to honor a teacher whose hard work plays a vital part in making Wisconsin private education excellent,” said Executive Director Sharon Schmeling of WCRIS.
WCRIS is a non-profit, nonpartisan, membership association representing more than 100,000 K-12 students in 600 Catholic, Lutheran, Christian, Seventh Day Adventist, and independent schools across Wisconsin. It is the official state chapter of the Council for American Private Education.
