Trenton Cronk, a senior at Regis High School, has been selected as a 2018 Horatio Alger National Scholar. He is one of only 106 high school seniors nationally recognized and one of only two students recognized in the state of Wisconsin.
As a National Scholar, Cronk will receive a $25,000 college scholarship to be used in the pursuit of a bachelor’s degree, along with an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2018 Horatio Alger National Scholars Conference in Washington, D.C., being held April 4 to April 8, 2018.
This honor is a tribute to Cronk’s determination and hard work.
“Receiving this scholarship means the world to me,” Cronk said. “It is an absolute honor for me to be selected and have the chance to represent Regis in such a positive way. Receiving the Horatio Alger Scholarship is both a goal and dream come true. The stress it has lifted off my shoulders and peace it has given me is beyond words. I thank God for this amazing opportunity and blessing. My hard work, perseverance, and integrity has paid off in a remarkable way.”
As one of the nation's largest need-based college scholarship programs in the country, the Horatio Alger Scholarship Programs specifically assist high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. While many programs are directed primarily to recognizing academic achievement or leadership potential, the Horatio Alger Association seeks students who have exhibited determination, integrity, and perseverance in overcoming adversity, as well as have critical financial need.
