For many families, Regis is a tradition that spans several generations. That includes the Jacobs family.
Gabrien Jacobs, currently a kindergarten student at Immaculate Conception Elementary, is the fourth generation of his family to attend Catholic schools in Eau Claire!
Gabrien's great grandmother, Marion O'Brien (Bement) Romano, attended St. Patrick's in the 1920s. His grandparents, Steve and Susan (Bement) Jacobs, graduated from Regis High School in 1966. His father, David, graduated from Regis High School in 1996. David also coached hurdles and pole vault for the Regis Track & Field team for ten years before stepping away in 2006.
In addition, several of Gabrien's uncles, great uncles, and great aunts are all St. Patrick's or Regis graduates. His great uncle, Greg (Mouse) Bement, has a memorial scholarship named in his honor. Both of his great grandmothers, Hazel Jacobs and Marion Bement, taught first grade at St. James Elementary. His grandmother, Susan, taught at both St. Olaf and St. Patrick schools.
Gabrien's mother, Amanda (Halverson) Jacobs, and her four siblings attended Catholic school in Humboldt, Iowa prior to moving to Eau Claire in the early 2000s. David and Amanda say they decided to send their son to Regis Catholic Schools because of the quality education, development of Faith, and sense of community our system has.
The family is joyful that Gabrien carries on the tradition of attending Catholic schools in Eau Claire! They know he will receive an excellent education that will include the development of a moral compass for life. The family is truly thankful for the dedicated teachers, staff, and all those who support Catholic schools in our community.
