Mock Trial
The Wisconsin Mock Trial Tournament was established by the Wisconsin Bar Association twenty years ago. High school students from all over the state meet in February and March for the Regional and State competitions. The twelve-person teams consist of three student attorneys, six witnesses and three alternates. A teacher coach and one or more attorney coaches assist the students. The cases are either civil or criminal and change each year. The goal of the program is to create a greater awareness and appreciation of the legal system and the role of the individual within a free society. Students learn to make decisions based on logic, rather than emotion, and become better equipped to deal with controversy and conflict.
